The 3-5s Class is for children who will be between the ages of three and five by August 31st. The class meets three times weekly on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings.
Next year we’re joining forces with Northeast Toddlers Cooperative Preschool and Latona Cooperative Preschool and moving to their classrooms on the North Seattle College campus. We’ll also be gaining their experienced and well-loved teachers and parent educators. Our 3-5s Class will now be taught by Teacher Apurva.
Our class goes on field trips. We’ve visited Kelsey Creek Farm, the Burke Museum, Husky Stadium, Fire Station 38, and more.
Our class uses the Second Step Early Learning curriculum to support the social-emotional growth of each child during the formative preschool years.
Our class has a Pre-K extended day program. Our older students stay in class for an extra hour, getting individualized lessons tailored to their abilities and practicing their kindergarten-readiness skills.
Read more about the 3-5s Class on our future partner Latona’s page on the North Seattle Co-op Program website.

Teacher Apurva has a PhD in Social Work from the University of Washington, with experience working with children in educational and therapy environments. She has been active in the North Seattle College cooperative preschool system since 2012, first as a parent and then as a teacher. You can hear a few of her songs on this co-op video, starting at 17:10.
Parent Educator Lea Evans
Lea Evans has been on the Parent Education faculty at North Seattle College since 2018 and has taught and advised adult students in various subjects, states, and countries since 2001.
Class is held in a spacious, bright open floor plan classroom that contains all of our learning centers — including a dramatic play center, art center, library, sensory table, and more — facilitating easy movement between centers during free play time. There are also two dedicated outdoor spaces, a covered area directly connected to the classrooms and a large, uncovered area beyond that.
Parents work in the classroom once a week, assisting the teacher in an assigned role. Parents also attend monthly evening parent education classes led their parent educator. And, parents hold volunteer administration jobs to keep the preschool running smoothly behind the scenes. Jobs include Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary, Parent Coordinator, Scheduler, Photographer, and more.
Our preschool allows babes-in-arms. Newborn infants can attend class for their older sibling with their enrolled caregiver as long as they can remain in a carrier or wrap.
Tuition for the 2021-2022 school year is $145 per month. The cost of the Pre-K program is an extra $50 per month. Scholarships are available. In addition, the North Seattle College parent education tuition is approximately $54 per quarter.
Families are also asked to help raise $145 over the course of the year through our fundraisers. Our major fundraiser of the year is the Annual Wreath Sale.
