Charlotte Skeffington is the Parent Educator for the Pre-3s Class. She has worked as a parent educator with South Seattle College Cooperative Preschools since 2017, and joined us at University-Ravenna in 2018.
Charlotte completed undergraduate studies in International Affairs and Latin American Studies at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, and spent the following 2 years in El Salvador where she served as a Rural Heath & Sanitation Peace Corps Volunteer.
Upon completion of Peace Corps Service, Charlotte returned to Seattle where she worked as an Elementary Program Coordinator with New Futures—a branch of Southwest Youth and Family Services. She provided students with a safe, supportive classroom within their apartment complex where they could receive homework help, counseling services, and participate in enrichment activities. Charlotte’s interest in Early Learning and Parent Education arose from her experience working as a Home Visitor in The Parent Child Home Program. She visited families twice a week to demonstrate how to get the most educational value out of playing, singing, and reading with toddlers.
Charlotte naturally recognizes potential in others and it brings her great joy to support families in cooperative preschools. She is driven by the idea that each child deserves access to services and early education programs that set them, families, and communities up for the best.
