Teacher Nicole is excited to be the interim co-teacher for the University-Ravenna Cooperative Preschool’s Pre-3s Class. With a background in music, she has previously worked in various Northeast Seattle preschools for nearly 8 years bringing music and storytelling to many young students. Teacher Nicole is also the Teacher for our 3-5s Class.
She believes preschool should be a fun, engaging environment where children are encouraged to play while learning to cooperate with others and cultivate their independence. Through collaboration with parents, she hopes to instill a lifelong love of learning.
When not teaching, Teacher Nicole can be spotted in and around the neighborhood running with friends, taking neighborhood walks with her husband, two children and their dog, carpooling those same children to various activities, or possibly sitting on her front porch, singing.
Teacher Kristin is also excited to be an interim co-teacher for the University-Ravenna Cooperative Preschool’s Pre-3s Class. She has 20 years of experience in the early childhood field, specializing in early childhood Special Education.
Teacher Kristin is also the Parent Educator for our 3-5s Class. For 11 years before becoming a parent educator, she coordinated classroom accommodations for children with disabilities and supported outreach parent groups to underserved populations with a local Head Start in Seattle.
She shares her home with her husband, three kids, and two look-alike cats. She is a potter, a Barre fitness instructor, and, recently, an avid runner. Other hobbies include home construction projects and working outside in the yard.
Parent Educator Lea Evans
Lea Evans is the Parent Educator for the Pre-3s Class. She has been on the Parent Education faculty at North Seattle College since 2018 and has taught and advised adult students in various subjects, states, and countries since 2001.
Since her son was born in 2013, she has focused much more on supporting families. Her son attended a co-op preschool here in Seattle and is currently enjoying elementary school. Lea is thrilled to be a part of the U-Ravenna community.
Class is held in a spacious, bright open floor plan classroom that contains all of our learning centers — including a home center, sensory table, large muscle equipment, art, library, and more — facilitating easy movement between centers during free play time. We use the playground at Bryant Elementary School for outdoor recess.
Parents work in the classroom once a week, assisting Teacher Nicole and Teacher Kristin in an assigned role. Parents also attend monthly evening parent education classes led by Lea Evans. And, parents hold volunteer administration jobs to keep the preschool running smoothly behind the scenes. Jobs include Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary, Parent Coordinator, Scheduler, Photographer, and more.
Our preschool allows babes-in-arms. Newborn infants up to one year of age can attend class for their older sibling with their enrolled caregiver as long as they can remain in a carrier or wrap.
Tuition for the 2020-2021 school year is $107 per month. Scholarships are available. In addition, the North Seattle College parent education tuition is approximately $54 per quarter.
Families are also asked to help raise $100 over the course of the year through our fundraisers. Our major fundraiser of the year is the Annual Wreath Sale.
